On Friday 4 July 2025, Luxembourg’s LCGB trade union reported that furniture and decoration store Casa Luxembourg had been declared bankrupt, affecting 35 employees.
The LCGB reported the bankruptcy is a direct consequence of the liquidation of Casa Luxembourg’s parent company in Belgium, which took place on 5 March 2025.
The LCGB revealed that since the announcement of the liquidation of the parent company they had been in contact with employees and management in Luxembourg to find a solution, but in the absence of a takeover offer the eight stores in Luxembourg were forced to close their doors.
The LCGB said it “deeply regrets that another well-known and established brand in the retail sector has been wiped off the map of the country”.
The trade union emphasised that its most important priority is to ensure that employees can receive support as quickly as possible and will assist employees in filing their claims and finding new employment, by contacting key stakeholders such as ADEM and the sector federation.
The LCGB will also organise a meeting to discuss the next steps and urged all affected employees to contact the union.
