On Thursday 8 October 2026, the Regional Tourist Office of the Mullerthal Region (Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland) announced the official opening of a new comfort hiking trail in Junglinster.

In the presence of Luxembourg's Deputy Minister for Tourism, Eric Thill, the First Councillor of the municipality of Junglinster, Tom Weber, and the President of the Regional Tourist Office, Carole Hartmann, the region’s second comfort hiking trail was officially opened at Bëschkierfecht in Eschweiler, near Junglinster.

According to the office, the idea for accessible walking trails stems from an INTERREG project. A needs assessment carried out in the region over a number of years subsequently led the Ministry of the Economy – Directorate-General for Tourism to publish the national guidelines for accessible hiking trails in Luxembourg, which set out the requirements for this type of hiking trail.

“Comfort hiking trails offer people with disabilities, families with children and pushchairs, and older people the opportunity to explore a region via a short, accessible and, above all, safe route,” the office explained.

The highlights along the route in Junglinster include mardels, a stretch through the woods and views of the surrounding countryside. Numerous seating areas and an accessible car park complete the trail.

The route is 1.5 km long, starting and finishing at the Bëschkierfecht car park in Eschweiler, at Op der Déckt.
