Luxembourg's Ministry of Digitalisation has reported that, on Thursday 6 March 2025, Stéphanie Obertin, Minister of Digitalisation, received Dumitru Alaiba, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalisation of the Republic of Moldova, at the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Luxembourg city.

Moldova, a candidate country for accession to the European Union, has become a driving force for digital innovation in Eastern Europe in recent years, with its information technology sector gaining increasing recognition.

According to the ministry, during their meeting, the two ministers were able to address many shared projects, developments and priorities. The topics discussed included electronic governance, data management, the three Luxembourg national strategies currently being developed and digital sovereignty.

Minister Obertin and Deputy PM Alaiba discussed possible collaborations around the European e-wallet, a project in which Luxembourg and Moldova are participating, and also around projects in the field of interoperability or data governance.
