On Wednesday 3 June 2026, the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) announced a change to the Luxembourg men's national football team squad ahead of its international friendly against Italy, scheduled to kick off at 20:45 at the Stade de Luxembourg.

According to the FLF, Diego Duarte (RFC Seraing, Belgium) has been called up to the Red Lions (Rout Léiwen) squad to replace Aiman Dardari (Greuther Fürth, Germany), who has withdrawn from the team. Dardari's medical situation will be reassessed ahead of Luxembourg's next international match against Albania, scheduled to take place at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana on Saturday 6 June 2026.

Initially selected for the Luxembourg U21 national team, 19-year-old Diego Duarte has now joined the senior squad for the match against Italy.

Dardari featured in both of Luxembourg's UEFA Nations League promotion/relegation play-off matches against Malta at the end of March 2026. Jeff Strasser's team secured a 5-0 aggregate victory over the two legs, comfortably retaining their place in League C.
