Luxembourg’s Géisskan poetry slam collective has launched its Pop-up Poetry Lab at the Kinnekswiss municipal park in Luxembourg City.

The Pop-up Poetry Lab runs from Wednesday 14 May to Sunday 29 June 2025 and to facilitate the event the collective has installed a large tent in the park, which will host workshops, poetry slams and performances.

The Pop-up lab is open daily, offering writing materials, recording equipment and guidance from experienced poets. Open sessions are available on a drop-in basis. However, certain days are reserved for school classes.

The Géisskan collective has announced that a number of masterclasses, featuring artists Sam Erpelding (Luxembourg), Sylvia Búho (Belgium) and Wehwalt Koslovsky (Germany) will take place up until Friday 30 May 2025. The masterclasses focus on writing about nature and are targeted at poets, writers and creatives with the intention to provide new inspiration for local artists.

To sign up to the masterclasses, applicants should send an email to: geisskan@outlook.com.

On Sunday 15 June 2025, the Géisskan collective will make all of the work created during the Pop-up Poetry Lab accessible to the public. It will install QR codes across the park, allowing everyone to read and listen to the texts and experience the park “through the lens of others”.

A traditional poetry slam will also take place on the stage at LUGA's Culture Hub in the park on Sunday 15 June 2025 at 16:00, under the title “Plants, Ants and Climate Justice”.

The Pop-up Poetry Lab will close on Sunday 29 June 2025 at 16:30, with a performance of “Leaves, Lines and Leaping Moves” on the stage at LUGA's Culture Hub. The performance merges all the texts created during the workshops with sound art and contemporary dance. Luxembourgish dancer Nora Noush will choreograph the performance.

All events are free of charge.
