On Tuesday 10 June 2025, Chronicle.lu attended the official opening of the Playa Beach Club in Luxembourg-Howald.

The Playa Beach Club is a pop-up beach bar, which owners 1COM Group described as “a true urban oasis” with a “seaside atmosphere”. Located in a private parking area within the Howald industrial estate (103-105 Rue des Bruyères, Luxembourg-Howald), the club features three bars offering cocktails, wine, beer and other refreshments. There are also a variety of food options available from the club’s restaurant.

The outside area features palm trees, white sand, parasols and beach furniture and will host themed events, Sunday brunches, after-work gatherings and corporate events. For entertainment, there is a pétanque pitch, cornhole games and a variety of activities for children, which will be provided throughout the summer.

General Manager at 1COM Group, Steve Darné spoke to Chronicle.lu about the concept behind the club. He said: “As a team we decided quite quickly that there was a market for a nice place to meet when the days are nice and to make most of the Luxembourgish summer.” He added: “We came up with this place where we can do Sunday brunches for families, after-work evenings and corporate events.”

According to Steve Darné the concept did not take long to come to fruition and he noted that “the palm trees were suddenly here and the sand was here and now, the beach club is here”.

The 1COM group also operate the YOYO indoor playground and Strike Bowling restaurant and sports bar, which are also located on Rue des Bruyères, Luxembourg-Howald.
