The municipality of Kayl has announced that the 2025 edition of the “This is a Human’s World Festival” will take place at Schungfabrik Tétange (Tétange-Kayl) on Saturday 5 July 2025 from 16:00 to 22:45.

Organisers describe the festival as “a bold celebration of memory, identity and resistance” that “celebrates diversity, inclusion and the human spirit through an interdisciplinary approach”.

According to the organisers, the 2025 edition will take on themes of gender, history and social reinvention with a programme inviting audiences to connect through concerts, talks, exhibitions, living archives and “surprise performances”, embracing “our shared humanity, where memory meets the future”.

The agenda includes a talk from Historian Dr Inna Ganschow on the experiences of Eastern European women subjected to forced labour in Luxembourg's steel industry during the Second World War, a musical performance from percussionist N.U. Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten), a stage performance by Luxembourg-based not-for-profit association Kultrun, which tells the stories of women in Luxembourg’s mining industry from the early 20th century to the present and a concert from Berlin-based musical duo HANNELORE, blending guitar, drums and vocals with the genres of bossa nova, jazz and metal.

Throughout the day there will also be an exhibition of photography by students from the University of Luxembourg’s Master in Theatre and Interculturality, which captures the role of women in Luxembourg’s mining communities. There will also be a dedicated open space hosting creative workshops for all ages, stalls selling second-hand books and clothing, as well as the latest exhibition at the FERRUM Museum.

Food and refreshments will be available from a variety of food trucks throughout the day.

Entry to the event is free.
