On Wednesday 11 June 2025, the Luxembourg Olympic and Sporting Committee (COSL) held a meeting of its Board of Directors, following which it published the list of athletes selected for its 2025/26 elite and promotion winter squads.
The elite squad consists of five athletes, including two with Olympic Qualification Projects: Mathieu Osch (Alpine skiing), a two-time Olympian, and Gwyneth Ten Raa (Alpine skiing), who competed at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Also named in the squad are Peter Murphy (short track) and Marie Schreiber (Сyclo-cross). The status of Jeff Bauer (skeleton), currently listed in the elite squad, is due to be reviewed by the COSL Board of Directors at its next meeting on Monday 30 June 2025.
According to COSL, Mathieu Osch and Gwyneth Ten Raa currently have the strongest chances of qualifying for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games and have therefore been included in the highest-level project, which comes with the “most substantial” level of financial support.
Cyclist Marie Schreiber, who secured her first victory in the UCI Elite Cyclo-Cross World Cup in Hulst, Netherlands, in December 2024, could be eligible to compete at the 2030 Winter Olympic Games in the French Alps. Her discipline, an off-road cycling sport with varied terrain and obstacles, is currently under consideration for inclusion as a demonstration sport.
The promotion squad includes three athletes competing in alpine skiing: Joachim Keghian (slalom, giant slalom), Joyce Ten Raa (slalom, giant slalom) and newly admitted Nikolaj Lindfors (downhill, Super-G).
