The Avenir Beggen Football Club supporters, the “Yellow Boys Beggen”, yesterday visited the Stëmm vun der Strooss Hollerich premises to deliver a donation; the supporters had organised a collection of clothes inviting football fans to bring warm winter clothes, blankets, sleeping bags and duvets to football matches.

We advertised on the football club’s website and on our Facebook page over the course of a few weeks, asking that fans bring items to our club’s football matches,” explained, Paul Krier, member of the supporters group. “We came up with the idea of a clothes collection given that winter is a time when homeless people are more vulnerable than usual. The response was great and we collected two carloads full of all kinds of clothes and materials to help keep the homeless warm during these colder months.”

Winter is indeed the most precarious time of year for those living on the streets, and support in the form of clothing and shelter to protect against freezing temperatures is invaluable.

Such initiatives at this time of year are particularly important and on behalf of the homeless, many thanks to FC Avenir Beggen supporters club and all of its fans who have helped to make a difference with this present,” said Alexandra Oxacelay, director of Stëmm vun der Strooss.
