On Friday 26 September 2025, on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Cooperation and Ministry of Foreign Trade reaffirmed its support for multilateralism and United Nations agencies.
The ministries noted that at a time marked by growing global uncertainty and a reduction in funding for multilateral development cooperation, the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg reiterates its steadfast commitment to the United Nations and its development system.
In its press release the ministries said: “As a long-standing and trusted partner, Luxembourg continues to defend multilateralism and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through strategic, predictable and flexible financing.”

The ministries added that during the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly, Luxembourg also signed a multi-year agreement of €5 million for the period 2026–2030 with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and strengthened its support for the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), increasing its contribution to €2 million in 2025 and 2026.
