On Monday 27 October 2025, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, paid a courtesy visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, officially welcomed the Grand Ducal couple and their delegation at Bellevue Palace in Berlin on Monday.

After the performance of the national anthems, the Luxembourg Head of State and the German President inspected the honour guard in the inner courtyard of the castle. This welcome ceremony was followed by a meeting between the two Heads of State and the two First Ladies.

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss "excellent" bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Germany, based on long-standing friendship, shared values and close cooperation between the two countries.

Following this meeting, Grand Duke Guillaume, Grand Duchess Stéphanie and Minister Xavier Bettel attended a luncheon hosted at the residence of the Ambassador of Luxembourg in Berlin, in the presence of Luxembourg's honorary consuls to Germany. This convivial moment provided an opportunity to recognise their commitment to the Grand Duchy, noted the ministry.
