Twisted Cat awards;

Luxembourg’s independent brewery, Twisted Cat, has secured five major titles at this year’s World Beer Awards 2025, including Gold and Country Winner for its standout Dry Hopped IPA in the English Style IPA category — officially placing it among the best beers in the world.

The awards were announced on Wednesday 13 August during a ceremony at The Great Hospital in Norwich, UK. Organised by the World Drinks Awards, the World Beer Awards is one of the most prestigious global competitions in the brewing industry, recognising outstanding beer across all styles and nations. This year’s competition saw over 3,000 entries from breweries across the globe.

Twisted Cat’s winning line-up:
- Gold + Country Winner – Dry Hopped IPA (IPA English Style)
- Silver – Diddelenger Pils (Classic Pilsner, Lager)
- Bronze – The Original Pale Ale (Pale Beer, American Style)
- Bronze – Cloudy Day (Milkshake IPA / New England IPA)

These awards are not just a win for our brewery, but for the entire Luxembourg craft beer scene,” said Joel Back, Brewer and Partner of the Twisted Cat Brewery and President of the Confederation of Brewers and Breweries of Luxembourg. “We’ve always believed that bold, independent brewing from a small country can compete — and win — on the world stage. Now, the results speak for themselves.”

The World Beer Awards recognises excellence through a two-round judging process. The first round selects national winners in each style category, while the second round brings those Country Winners into a global contest to determine the best of the best. Judges from around the world, including writers, brewers, retailers and industry experts, participate in blind tastings to ensure fairness and quality in scoring.

Pete Brown, Global Chair of Judges, noted: “With more than 3,000 entries this year, the standard was extremely high. The global scope of both entries and judges made for an exciting and diverse competition. Even seasoned experts were discovering something new.”

Anita Ujszaszi, Director of the World Beer Awards, added: “Knowing that breweries worldwide trust us with their very best beers is an honour. Our judging panels bring exceptional expertise — it’s a privilege to showcase the results.

According the the Twisted Cat brewery, "For Twisted Cat, this is a defining moment — proof that Luxembourg’s independent brewing scene is not only thriving but globally competitive".
