On Saturday 7 November 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that several people were placed in custody overnight following incidents of alcohol intoxication and public disorder across Luxembourg.
According to the police, on the evening of Friday 6 November, a police patrol at Esch-sur-Alzette railway station was alerted by a witness to the behaviour of a man acting suspiciously. When officers attempted to check the visibly intoxicated individual, he immediately became uncooperative. As he repeatedly ignored police instructions, officers were forced to restrain him. Since he posed a danger to himself and others, it was decided that he would be placed in police custody following a medical examination.
During the intervention, a police officer also sustained a shoulder injury and went to hospital for further examination after finishing his shift.
Another incident occurred at around 22:10 at a bus stop on Boulevard Pierre Frieden in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, after a bus driver alerted police to an intoxicated passenger who was refusing to leave the vehicle. At the scene, officers repeatedly instructed the man to get off the bus. When he failed to comply, they eventually had to escort him off. The man then repeatedly insulted the officers and continued to behave uncooperatively. Due to his condition and behaviour, it was decided that he would be placed in police custody following a medical examination.
In the early hours of Saturday 7 November, at around 01:45, police were called to a hospital on Rue d'Eich in Luxembourg-Eich, where a heavily intoxicated man was shouting loudly in the entrance area. When officers arrived, the man proved extremely uncooperative. He insulted both other people present and police officers and attempted to punch another individual. To prevent further assaults, officers had to restrain him.
Several of the man's companions then became involved in the police intervention. The situation grew increasingly tense with officers repeatedly being insulted and harassed. Several individuals ignored instructions to keep their distance, prompting police to call in additional patrols for support. Further insults and uncooperative behaviour towards officers continued during transport and at the police station.
A total of five people were placed in police custody due to their behaviour and levels of intoxication. Reports were drawn up in all cases.
