On Friday 21 November 2025, the American Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (AMCHAM) held its annual Thanksgiving Gala Dinner at the Cercle Cité in Luxembourg-Ville.

The event welcomed around 250 guests to the sold-out black-tie event, including Luxembourg Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, the new US Ambassador to Luxembourg, Stacey Feinberg, Chinese Ambassador to Luxembourg, Hua Ning and Director-General of the CSSFClaude Marx.

After a pre-dinner networking reception, the guests took their seats in the Cercle Cité’s main room, which offered festive views of the Christmas market in Place d'Armes.

Paul Schonenberg, AMCHAM Chairman and CEO, welcomed the guests and acknowledged the work put into this event by his team as well as the support of sponsors. He recalled the origins of Thanksgiving as a harvest celebration and then invited Minister Roth to address the room.

The Minister of Finance began by welcoming Stacey Feinberg and talked of the connections between the Grand Duchy and the US from World War II through to modern day relationships in areas such as finance, space and steel.

Minister Roth said: “This evening, I want to express my gratitude for the invaluable partnership we share with the United States. Our relationship has been shaped by shared values, respect for freedom and democracy, commitment to the rule of law and the unwavering belief in opportunities we bring. Life, charity and the pursuit of happiness set the very essence of the American dream.”

He added: “Looking back, US firms were among the first to believe in Luxembourg as a financial hub. They have done this for over 50 years. And since Brexit, we have welcomed even more American businesses to Luxembourg, particularly in insurance and also in private banking. Their presence is a strong testament to the trust and also confidence in Luxembourg's stability and its approach to finance.”

Stacey Feinberg then gave a speech in which she thanked Paul Schonenberg and the members of AMCHAM for their support and expressed her gratitude in being appointed as the US Ambassador to Luxembourg. She talked of her conversations with US President Donald Trump around her appointment and her “top choice” of Luxembourg from the options presented to her. She remarked: “It has honestly been the best three weeks of my life. I knew, I stuck to my guns to get Luxembourg […] and I knew in my heart that it was going to be a perfect match. And it is.”

She then noted the “warm welcome” she had received from both Grand Duke Guillaume and Prime Minister Luc Frieden and in closing thanked AMCHAM for its role in “making the US-Luxembourg partnership so exceptionally strong” and said: “I intend to be a bridge between Luxembourg and the United States.”

After the speeches, dinner was served, starting with pumpkin soup and continuing with a main course of turkey and, later, dessert and coffee.

The evening also featured a tombola for which each guest had received a ticket attached to their dinner place card. The prize draw was coordinated by AMCHAM Head of Communications, Daniel McKenzie, who was assisted by Ambassador Feinberg in selecting the prize-winning numbers.
