On Friday 2 October 2026, the Valentiny Foundation in Remerschen officially opened an exhibition entitled "Pit David – 30 Years of Kachina Painting – a retrospective", dedicated to Luxembourg artist Pit David and three decades of his work inspired by the Hopi and their Kachinam.

According to the foundation, Pit David's engagement with the subject dates back to the 1990s. His stays in Arizona and encounters there played “an important role” in his artistic development, particularly his perception of the landscapes, culture and visual world of the American Southwest. He has regularly exhibited works related to the subject since 1995.

Recurring figures, geometric structures, intense colours and rhythmic compositions feature throughout the works on display. David Pit uses various materials and techniques, including canvas, watercolour pencils, natural pigments and washi paper.

The retrospective also features a series of 30 paintings referring to locations the artist visited while travelling through the so-called Four Corners region of the United States (US), bringing elements of landscape, memory and his personal travel experiences into the exhibition.

Born in Bettembourg in 1949 and now based in Contern, David Pit is a self-taught artist. The foundation described his work as combining personal experience, cultural encounters and painterly interpretation.

The exhibition will remain on display until Saturday 17 October 2026. The venue is open for visits from Wednesday to Sunday, from 14:00 to 18:00.
