The Grand Ducal Police has confirmed that a 71-year-old man has died following a road traffic accident on Monday 31 July 2023 in Ettelbruck.
The accident happened at around 21:00 on the Avenue des Alliés in Ettelbruck and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. According to initial findings, the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street. The victim of the accident - a 71-year-old man - was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but he died of his injuries during the night.
The public prosecutor's office was informed and instructed the police to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. The vehicle involved in the accident was seized and the public prosecutor's office requested an autopsy and the withdrawal of the driver's license.
The driver's alcohol and drug tests were negative.
Investigations continue and further checks are being carried out under the supervision of an examining magistrate in Diekirch.
