
The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a number of drivers across Luxembourg failed alcohol tests during the night of Friday 25 to Saturday 26 July 2025.
According to the police, at approximately 22:30 on Friday 25 July, a driver in Ettelbruck failed to give way to a police patrol. The driver was subsequently stopped and subjected to a breathalyser test, which returned a positive result. A police report was filed against the driver.
Also, in Ettelbruck, at around 01:00 on Saturday 26 July, officers noticed a vehicle moving from the pavement onto the road without paying heed to oncoming traffic. During an inspection, officers observed that the vehicle’s front and rear number plates did not match. A check of the vehicle’s chassis number revealed that it was no longer authorised for use on public roads. Additional checks revealed the driver did not hold a valid driving licence and was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The vehicle was seized and a police report was filed against the driver.
Furthermore, in Grevenmacher, at around 02:00 on Saturday 26 July, police in Grevenmacher noticed a vehicle swerving severely and repeatedly veering towards hedges at the roadside. Upon inspection, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol. A subsequent breathalyser test returned a positive result. The driver’s licence was confiscated and a provisional driving ban was issued.
