The Grand Ducal Police have reported that they detained a man for violent behaviour in Ettelburck on Friday evening.
Around 21:00 on Friday 1 August 2025, police received reports of a man shouting and causing a disturbance in Ettelbruck. A short time later, another report came in concerning a fight in a bar on Grand-Rue in Ettelbruck, in which the victim was bleeding and the suspect had fled the scene.
On-site, officers determined that the suspected attacker was the same man who had earlier been seen shouting and rioting in the area.
The man was later located on Rue Prince Henri. He continued to "scream wildly" and was uncooperative with officers. He was handcuffed and, following a security pat-down, was taken to the police station. During the search, officers found a jackknife in his possession. The suspect reportedly continued to cause disturbances in the holding cell, lashing out and vomiting several times.
According to preliminary investigations, the man had allegedly smashed a beer glass over the head of a bar patron, resulting in a physical altercation. Witnesses reportedly intervened using chairs to separate the two, after which the suspect fled towards the train station.
By order of the public prosecutor's office, the man was taken into custody and charged with assault and battery, as well as unlawful possession of a weapon. The knife was confiscated.
