WeConnect Luxembourg, a societal impact company (SIS) that helps students find affordable housing by connecting them with people willing to share their homes, has launched a call for new hosts.

As the start of the school year approaches, many students are still struggling to find accommodation. WeConnect noted that intergenerational cohabitation is emerging as a "humane, supportive and sustainable" solution to Luxembourg's housing crisis.

The organisation facilitates these intergenerational connections, allowing students to find affordable housing while offering hosts with a spare room "additional income, a friendly presence and a genuine intergenerational exchange".

With more than 1,000 students already registered, the current supply of rooms remains largely insufficient, according to WeConnect. The appeal goes out to all residents with a spare space. The organisation added that hosting a student not only makes better use of living space but also fosters social bonds.

How it works:

  • Register on the website: www.weconnect.lu
  • WeConnect will contact potential hosts to set up an appointment
  • Hosts will be matched with a student and subsequently meet them
  • WeConnect takes care of the contracts and insurance
  • Cohabitation begins
