On Thursday 11 September 2025, Grand Duke Henri paid a farewell visit to the Luxembourg Army in Diekirch, ahead of his abdication on 3 October.
The ceremony took place at the Herrenberg barracks, in the presence of General Steve Thull, Chief of Staff of the Luxembourg Army, Colonel Pascal Ballinger, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Luxembourg Army, Colonel Alain Schoeben, Commander of the Forces, and Luxembourg's Minister of Defence, Yuriko Backes, among others.
