On Saturday 7 November 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that it had to intervene several times on the evening of Friday 6 November and during the following night in connection with motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police, at around 19:20 on Friday, police received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Rue des Trévires in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. A police patrol located the driver shortly afterwards at his home address, as he was parking his vehicle in front of a garage. During the subsequent check, officers detected a strong smell of alcohol. A breathalyser test returned a positive result, and the driver's licence was confiscated. He was also issued with a provisional driving ban.

Later that evening, a police patrol spotted a vehicle travelling along Route du Vin in Remerschen without its headlights switched on. During the subsequent check, officers noticed signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test returned a positive result. The vehicle was parked in a car park and a report was drawn up.

At around 21:15, police were also alerted to an altercation between two men at a motorway service area on the A6 towards Arlon. At the scene, officers found two heavily intoxicated men who had been travelling together in a lorry. One of the men had sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment. As the lorry driver was also heavily intoxicated, officers took possession of the vehicle keys as a precaution and temporarily immobilised the lorry to prevent him from continuing his journey.
