The Grand Ducal Police have reported that between Thursday 26 and Friday 27 February 2026, they carried out alcohol intoxication checks on the instruction of the Public Prosecutor, as provided for in Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 concerning traffic regulations on all public roads.

According to the police, the checks were carried out on Thursday on the Haaptstrooss (N15) in Heiderscheid and Riesenhof (N23) between the hours of 17:00 and 20:00 and on Route du Vin in Wormeldange between the hours of 23:15 and 00:00. On Friday checks were undertaken on Rue d’Oetrange in Canach between the hours of 00:30 and 01:15 and on Dickstrooss in Stadtbredimus between the hours of 01:45 and 02:30.

A total of 434 drivers underwent a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indications.

In nine cases, the test was positive and official reports or fined warnings were issued accordingly. Two driving licences were withdrawn on the spot.

During the checks, fifteen other violations of the Highway Code were recorded.
