The Grand Ducal Police have reported that several incidents took place across Luxembourg over the weekend.

At around 05:00 on Saturday 14 March 2026, police were notified of an accident involving two cars at the Gluck roundabout in Luxembourg-Gasperich. One of the drivers tested positive for alcohol consumption. It was also discovered that he was already subject to a driving ban. His vehicle was subsequently impounded on the orders of the public prosecutor's office. Both drivers were taken to hospital for treatment and the road was temporarily closed to traffic. A forensic police unit from the criminal investigation department was on-site to investigate the accident.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday 15 March 2026, police received a report of a vehicle near Bous that was first swerving and then driving at a very low speed before coming to a stop in the middle of the road. Police located and stopped the car near Remich. The driver's breathalyser test came back positive and his licence was confiscated.

Also around midnight, a vehicle was reported to have crashed into a tree and a portable toilet in Wasserbillig. The driver was stopped and also tested positive for alcohol consumption. His driver's licence was confiscated.

Another car driving erratically was reported on the A1 motorway around 00:45. The driver also tested positive for alcohol consumption and his licence was confiscated.

Around 04:30, police in Greiveldange noticed a vehicle approaching a patrol car with its engine revving loudly. Officers stopped the car and checked the driver's identification. Although the driver denied consuming any alcohol, the breathalyser test came back positive. A rapid drug test also returned a positive result. The man's driving licence was confiscated on the spot and a report was filed.

At approximately 05:45, police found a vehicle in Esch-sur-Alzette where the driver was asleep behind the wheel while the engine was still running. A breathalyser test returned a positive result and the man's licence was confiscated. A similar situation occurred at around 06:30, when another driver was found asleep behind the wheel at a traffic light in Esch-sur-Alzette. The breathalyser test again came back positive and the driver's licence was confiscated.

In addition to drink-driving incidents, the police also responded to several overnight disputes. Shortly before 02:00 on Sunday, police were called to a dispute at an apartment building in Esch-sur-Alzette. Officers found a man and a woman at the scene. According to the police, the woman was behaving uncooperatively. She repeatedly tried to push the officers away and threatened and insulted them. Due to her behaviour and intoxicated state, the police decided to place her in custody. During the intervention, officers were also spat upon. The incident was recorded and a report was filed, including charges for resisting police.

Police were called out around 20 times overnight for various other disputes, including half a dozen domestic disputes. In one case, the public prosecutor's office ordered the temporary eviction of one of the individuals involved.

The police also received reports of about ten fights. In Dudelange, a large altercation reportedly broke out in front of a bar involving a dozen people, during which glasses and bottles were thrown. By the time the police arrived, the fight had already broken up. A search for those involved was unsuccessful.
