The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents that took place on the evening of Friday 20 March, leading into the early hours of Saturday 21 March 2026.

Around 18:00 on Friday, the police received a report that a man in an apartment building in Clervaux had threatened a neighbouring family with a knife and made death threats. The man also stated that he had a firearm in his apartment. Police officers located the man in the building. During the police interaction, he again began threatening the family and at one point pulled out a kitchen knife, which the officers confiscated. They restrained the man and took him to the police station. The public prosecutor's office issued a search warrant, and the man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on the morning of Saturday 21 March 2026.

Between 22:00 on Friday and 06:00 on Saturday, the police received approximately 35 reports of disputes and noise disturbances across the Grand Duchy. In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time officers arrived, or they were able to resolve the matter on the spot.

However, at approximately 02:30, an altercation involving several people was reported at a tram stop on Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg-Ville. Officers found the victim and a suspected perpetrator at the scene. Due to his intoxicated and agitated state, the suspect was restrained. After a medical examination, he was taken into custody, and a report was filed.

Shortly afterwards, another dispute involving several people was reported at a bar on Rue Sigefroi in Luxembourg-Ville. When police officers arrived, one of the individuals involved resisted arrest and began provoking the officers, necessitating his restraint. The man was heavily intoxicated and remained uncooperative, according to the police. As such, he was taken into custody following a medical examination.

The police also reported several incidents of drink-driving. On Friday evening, they received a report of a delivery van driving erratically on the A1 motorway. A police patrol located the vehicle and the driver in Luxembourg-Cents and administered a breathalyser test, which came back positive. The man received a provisional driving ban.

Around the same time, at approximately 18:20, the police were alerted to an accident in Luxembourg-Clausen in which a driver crashed her car into a parked vehicle. The impact caused the parked car to collide with another parked vehicle. The motorist initially drove off without stopping. Officers eventually located the vehicle involved in the accident on Rue de Neudorf. It had sustained significant front-end damage. When questioned, the driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption but refused a breathalyser test. Consequently, she received a provisional driving ban, and a report was filed.

The police received a report of another vehicle driving dangerously on the A1 motorway towards Trier at approximately 01:10. A police patrol located the vehicle at the Wasserbillig rest area and stopped the driver. The breathalyser test came back positive and the driver's licence was confiscated.

Just 20 minutes later, a police patrol noticed a driver travelling in the wrong direction on the Marnach-Heinerscheid road. The officers were forced to brake hard and swerve onto the shoulder to avoid a head-on collision. The woman continued driving, prompting the officers to give chase. The driver initially ignored the flashing blue lights and stop signals, but eventually stopped. When an officer approached the car on foot, the motorist attempted to drive off, but then stopped again. A breathalyser test came back positive, and her driver's licence was confiscated.
