The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a car was seized and multiple driving bans were issued during the early hours of Wednesday 8 April 2026, following incidents of speeding and alcohol consumption recorded across the Grand Duchy.
According to the initial information, at around 00:30 on Wednesday, police officers were carrying out a speed check on Rue Gregoire Shouppe in Echternach. During this, they noticed a car travelling at excessive speed. Despite clear signals to stop, the driver continued at high speed and evaded the check. The officers initiated a pursuit and were able to locate the vehicle, which was empty, shortly afterwards in Geesbreck. At the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the vehicle was seized and a report was drawn up.
Several hours later, a police patrol on Route de Thionville in Howald noticed a vehicle travelling at excessive speed. The officers were able to locate the vehicle shortly afterwards in a car park and carry out a check on the driver. The driver’s licence was confiscated and a report was drawn up.
Moreover, at around 08:20 on Wednesday, a vehicle was reported to be driving in an erratic manner from Graulinster towards Echternach. A police patrol was able to locate the driver shortly afterwards. A breathalyser test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.
