The Grand Ducal Police has reported a number of traffic accidents which occurred between Sunday 26 April and Monday 27 April 2026, including a fatal crash and alcohol-related incident.
On Sunday afternoon, the police responded to a traffic accident in Lassrengen in Remerschen, where officers found a vehicle in a field, stuck in a hedge. According to the officers, the driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and behaved uncooperatively. As the breath test returned a positive result, the police issued a temporary driving ban and, on the order of the public prosecutor’s office, confiscated the vehicle.
Later that evening at around 20:30, the police received a report of a crashed vehicle with five occupants on CR324 in Wilwerwiltz. One person sustained minor injuries. The driver tested positive for alcohol and the police confiscated the driving licence.
Other accidents occurred on Monday. At around 00:42 that night, a collision involving two cars took place on Rue du Canal in Schifflange. According to initial information, two vehicles were speeding when one of them collided with an oncoming car. One female driver sustained life-threatening injuries, and emergency services transported her to hospital after providing first aid. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. However, the crash caused significant material damage, noted the officers.
Later that day, at around 13:30, the police responded to another traffic accident on Route de Trèves in Senningerberg, where a motorcyclist lost control and crashed on a bend. Despite receiving first aid at the scene, the 30-year-old rider died shortly afterwards from his severe injuries. Authorities closed the road for the duration of the rescue operations.
