On Thursday 28 May 2026, the Grand Ducal Police carried out a large-scale control operation on public transport in Luxembourg City, focusing on the tram network and the stops at Place de la Gare, Place de Paris and Hamilius.
According to the Grand Ducal Police, the aim of the operation was to help ensure safety and maintain a visible police presence on public transport.
During the operation, officers at Place de la Gare noticed a man who was clearly under the influence of alcohol and verbally harassing passengers getting off the tram. Due to his condition and because he was disturbing public order, officers took him into custody following a medical examination.
A total of ten officers from the Grand Ducal Police and two Romanian police officers took part in the operation. As reported earlier, the Romanian officers joined the force on Thursday 7 May 2026 as part of a six-month mission.
