On Thursday 18 June 2026, Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) organised the fourth edition of the Luxembourg Tourism Summit, which took place at Cercle Cité in Luxembourg-Ville.
According to LCTO, the event themed “Urban Tourism in Transition: Balancing Growth, Innovation, Cultural Identity and Visitor Experience” brought together tourism professionals and decision makers from Luxembourg and across Europe to discuss the future of urban tourism.
The summit provided a platform to explore new perspectives for the future of urban tourism as well as developments related to such challenges as digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability and climate change adaptation, changing traveller expectations and the growing importance of residents' quality of life, noted the ministry.
The LCTO said that among the speakers were international experts from, among others, Tallinn, Nantes and Oslo, as well as Professor Greg Clark, one of the world's leading experts in urban development. Through their presentations, they demonstrated how innovation, culture, digital solutions and sustainable strategies can help to make cities both attractive destinations and pleasant places to live.
Another highlight of the day was the keynote speech, “Why Inclusion Shapes the Cities We Remember”, presented by Degmo Daar, founder of NoorD Consulting. The panel discussion that followed, titled “How Identity, Inclusion and Urban Strategy Design the Future of Cities”, brought together international and Luxembourg participants to discuss how identity, diversity and urban development strategies shape the future of urban destinations. Among the Luxembourg participants was Shaaf Milani-Nia, Architect Director of the VdL and manager of the UNESCO site, who shared her perspective on the relationship between urban development, cultural heritage and urban identity.
"Urban tourism is currently undergoing a profound transformation. It is therefore essential to encourage dialogue between cities, experts and the various stakeholders in the tourism sector. In this respect, the Luxembourg Tourism Summit provides a valuable platform that contributes to the development of sustainable and innovative solutions for the future," said the Director of the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.
Beyond the conference sessions, the event also offered numerous opportunities for discussion and networking explained the LCTO, adding that among the activities on offer, an interactive graffiti wall installed in the foyer of Cercle Cité attracted particular attention. Under the guidance of artists from the Kamellebuttek Gallery, participants contributed to the creation of a collective artwork that will soon decorate the LCTO's premises and serve as a lasting reminder of the fourth edition of the Luxembourg Tourism Summit.
The Luxembourg Tourism Summit once again demonstrated the importance of sharing experiences and encouraging dialogue to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of tourism.
