The Grand Ducal Police have reported two arrests made on Thursday 18 June 2026 in connection with an attempted theft at a hospital in Luxembourg City and a shoplifting incident in Capellen.

According to the police, on Thursday evening, a man was caught attempting to steal a mobile phone from a room at a hospital in Luxembourg City. A police patrol attended the scene and located the suspect. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, he was arrested and was due to appear before an investigating judge on Friday 19 June 2026.

At around 18:00 on Thursday, a police patrol noticed a man carrying a fully loaded bag inside a shop on Route d'Arlon in Capellen. Upon seeing the officers, the man turned around. Shortly afterwards, the theft alarm sounded and officers observed him leaving the premises.

Further investigations revealed that the bag contained bottles of alcohol that had just been stolen from the shop. The items were seized and returned to the store. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
