On Thursday 16 July 2026, the Grand Ducal Police launched an appeal for witnesses to help identify two individuals in connection with a violent altercation following the theft of items from a parked vehicle in Ettelbruck.

According to the police, at approximately 13:30 on the afternoon of Wednesday 15 July 2026, they were informed of a physical altercation in Ettelbruck. According to the initial information, two unknown men had searched a parked vehicle and stolen several items. The suspects then fled in the direction of the main road.

The victim pursued them on foot and was able to catch up with the two men shortly afterwards in the area of Rue Pierre Wiser. When the victim attempted to detain one of the suspects, a struggle broke out. The suspect managed to escape. During the incident, the victim sustained an ankle injury and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

A shoulder bag containing the victim’s personal belongings, which had been discarded during the escape, was recovered.

As part of the search operation, police also secured two backpacks, one of which could be linked to one of the suspects.

The search for the two men and further investigations are ongoing.
