On Sunday 19 July 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported it had responded to several incidents which occurred across Luxembourg between Friday 17 and Sunday 19 July, including an intoxicated man on the tram track in Luxembourg-Howald and an altercation in Diekirch where two men were stabbed.
In the early hours of Sunday 19 July, the police were notified of an altercation involving several dozen people in Diekirch. Two men sustained stab wounds and, after receiving treatment from the emergency services at the scene, were taken to hospital for further medical assessment. Investigations to establish the exact sequence of events and the circumstances surrounding the altercation are ongoing. A report has been compiled.
Shortly after midnight on Sunday 19 July, the police were notified of a man lying on the tram tracks in Howald. The man did not respond to calls from witnesses at the scene. A police patrol succeeded in removing the man from the tracks, allowing tram services to resume. As the man was heavily intoxicated, he was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
On Friday 17 July 2026, at approximately 19:30, the police were notified of a road traffic collision in Grevenmacher involving a delivery van that had overturned onto its side. According to initial findings, the driver of the delivery van swerved to avoid another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle involved remained at the scene. In addition to the driver, there were two other occupants in the delivery van. Two occupants sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the delivery van was subjected to alcohol and drug tests. Both tests returned positive results. His driving licence was provisionally confiscated and a report was compiled.
