On Friday 11 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that 38 offences had been detected during nationwide traffic checks focusing on e-scooters, fatbikes and other forms of sustainable mobility.
The checks took place across Luxembourg on Thursday 10 September 2026 and involved 57 police officers from all four police regions. In total, officers inspected 102 electric micro-vehicles and eleven so-called fatbikes.
Police seized ten vehicles after finding that they exceeded the legally permitted maximum speed. These comprised three e-scooters and seven fatbikes. In a further seven cases, owners voluntarily surrendered non-compliant e-scooters.
Police also drew up ten official reports. Among the offences detected, two minors were found travelling together on one electric micro-vehicle, while in another case such a vehicle was being operated by a child under the age of ten.
Seven further offences resulted in fines, including riding on the pavement, wearing headphones while riding and carrying an additional person on an electric micro-vehicle.
The checks also resulted in two driving licence confiscations. In one case, a driving licence was confiscated after the person concerned refused to undergo an alcohol test.
