On Tuesday 22 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported several burglaries and thefts which occurred across Luxembourg the previous day.
In the early afternoon of Monday 21 September, one or more unknown perpetrators reportedly entered a residence in Rue des Prés in Bridel via a terrace. According to initial information, they forced open two terrace doors, searched several rooms and stole cash, bank cards, personal documents and jewellery.
In a separate incident in Rue d'Athus in Pétange, two unknown men rang the doorbell of an elderly woman and presented themselves as representatives of a charitable organisation. After the woman initially declined to open the door, one of the men reportedly entered the house through a partially open terrace door and then let the second man inside.
Both men joined the resident in the living room, before one of them went to another part of the house under a pretext. The men subsequently asked the woman for a donation and allegedly also took cash from her wallet. Police immediately launched a search for the suspects but did not locate them.
At around 22:30, police received a report of a vehicle break-in in Rue du Commerce in Luxembourg-Gare. An unknown person reportedly broke one of the vehicle's windows and took two computers, a mobile phone and two bank cards from inside.
Police also reported a shoplifting incident at a store in Grand-Rue in Luxembourg-Ville at around 15:20. A woman allegedly took two bottles of perfume and left the shop without paying. A security employee stopped her outside, but she reportedly broke free, returned the items and left the area. A police patrol located the suspected shoplifter later that evening.
Police launched investigations into the reported burglaries and thefts.
