On Wednesday 30 September 2023, Boulder Klub Lëtzebuerg (BKL) and Boulder Klub Mamer (BKM) will organise the first edition of the Women’s Bouldering Festival from 10:00 to 18:00, in Parc Brill, Mamer.
This collaboration aims celebrate and empower women in the sport of bouldering while raising awareness and funds to fight against breast cancer. While the event’s focus is on the female body, addressing specific challenges and points of interest that women may encounter in bouldering, the event is inclusive of all genders, ages and bouldering levels. It aims to introduce bouldering (climbing at fairly low heights without using rope) and related activities to all participants.
The Women’s Bouldering Festival team emphasised: “Our dream was to host an event in Luxembourg that celebrates and empowers women in bouldering while honouring the unique strengths of the female body. Through the Women's Bouldering Festival, we've created something inclusive of all genders, ages and bouldering skill levels and it's important to note that men are also warmly invited to join. We have also extended the idea of empowerment further by raising awareness and funds for breast cancer during the festival. We're thrilled to kick off the first edition."
The festival ground offers several artificial boulders, a mini-cup, a food corner with homemade food and drinks, information points, a mini-shop and a relaxation area with a DJ. Throughout the day, coaches and teachers will offer different workshops such as the Moonboard Session, Boulder Discovery, Yoga and Pilates for Climbers and Mental Skills.
Pre-sale tickets cost €15, door sale tickets cost €20. The event’s profits will be donated to the breast cancer coalition Europa Donna Luxembourg asbl.
