On Wednesday 14 May 2025, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, reported that its social restaurant in Luxembourg-Hollerich recently received the SuperDrecksKëscht label.
For the third year in a row, the social restaurant in Hollerich has been awarded the SuperDrecksKëscht label, which certifies responsible and sustainable waste management. This recognition not only highlights the organisation's commitment to fighting food waste but also its dedication to combating poverty.
The non-profit added that the label confirms that waste is sorted, stored and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
In 2024, Stëmm vun der Strooss served a total of 243,619 meals - an increase of 23% compared to the previous year. This amounts to over 700 meals served daily in its three social restaurants located in Hollerich (7 Rue de la Fonderie), Esch-sur-Alzette (32 Grand Rue and 118 Rue du Canal) and Ettelbruck (47 Rue Prince Henri).
However, the organisation's efforts go beyond just preparing and distributing meals. Stëmm vun der Strooss also promotes the professional reintegration of people living in precarious situations through its workshops such as Caddy, Schweesdreps, editorial work and green space maintenance. In 2024, 399 individuals benefited from reintegration measures through part-time and full-time employment contracts.
Charles Bechet, head of the Hollerich site, emphasised: "I am proud and grateful to work with such a dedicated team. This label is a wonderful recognition of their daily commitment and motivation."
Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, added: "All it takes is a bit of willpower to combine solidarity, social integration and environmental protection in a sustainable way."
