Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, has reported that it recently received a donation from the Inner Wheel Diekirch-Ettelbruck club.

On Tuesday 13 May 2025, Isabelle Goebel, President of Inner Wheel Diekirch-Ettelbruck, presented a €3,000 donation to Stëmm vun der Strooss. On this occasion, Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, presented the activities of the non-profit's northern branch.

The non-profit explained that this donation is part of a long-standing supportive relationship between the Inner Wheel Diekirch-Ettelbruck club and Stëmm vun der Strooss. In February 2024, the club had already donated €1,500 to support the "Dr Stëmm" service. Since November 2023, free medical consultations have been held every Tuesday afternoon at a nearby medical-social centre. Thanks to the initiative of Dr Fernand Grunig, seven volunteer doctors currently take turns providing medical care, information and health education to people in need.

During the donation ceremony, held at Hôtel Leweck, Alexandra Oxacelay highlighted the daily challenges faced by the northern branch: a small space that can only accommodate 20 people, while around 120 meals are served there every day.

Nevertheless, the recent €3,000 donation will go toward the Schweesdrëps project - a professional reintegration workshop located in Sanem, specialising in washing sportswear. Over 30 people in reintegration programmes clean the gear and uniforms of more than 500 sports teams across Luxembourg. The aim is to improve working conditions through investment in new equipment and more efficient processes.

So far, €32,000 has been raised, but the project requires a total of €70,000 to be fully implemented.
