On Tuesday 1 July 2025, Caritas Jeunes et Familles asbl announced that after a review of its mission and values it will now operate under the name CJF.
The organisation, which previously belonged to the Confédération Caritas and supports children, young people and families, has introduced a new visual identity focusing on the three initials of its name.
As reported by CJF, president of Caritas Jeunes et Familles, Christiane Schaus, had announced at their New Year gathering: “In 2025 we will reflect on who we are, what motivates us and what makes us strong and unique in Luxembourg’s social field, now that we are no longer part of the Caritas network.”
With two other Caritas Luxembourg members - the Caritas Foundation and Caritas Accueil et Solidarité - involved in a financial scandal, CJF stated that “the moment provided an opportunity to review everything”, with its partners recognising the organisation’s “professional standards”.
CJF has revealed that all CJF staff, including management, leadership and board members took part in the consultation and provided feedback through an anonymous survey. The team then conducted discussion groups involving a representative from each of CJF’s 50 sites. According to the CJF, the consultation led to a mission statement that staff can now use to guide their everyday work, whether on the ground, in administration or on the board.
Director General of CJF, Carina Gonçalves, said: “Emotional intelligence plays a key role in social work and gives our work meaning. I am proud of the result we reached together. It reflects who we are.”
CJF described its revised mission as aiming to “create a calm space where every child, teenager or young adult can grow and thrive, whatever their situation or background”.
The association listed its values as:
- commitment: We stay fully committed to helping children and young people grow in balance and happiness;
- openness to others and their diversity: We respect and value every person’s differences;
- kindness: Kindness shapes how we relate to each other and to the people we support and protect;
- solidarity: We work together, which helps us go further.
The association also revealed a new slogan “Grandir ensemble – Zesumme Wuessen” (“Growing Together”), which it described as “focusing on the future of children and young people in our care and the future of our team as they continue to grow through their work”.
