On Monday 7 July 2025, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, held the third edition of its “Wellness Day” at the NGO’s headquarters on Rue de la Fonderie in Luxembourg-Gare.

The non-profit organisation described the event as an opportunity to offer “a warm, calming and festive moment” to individuals in precarious situations whom it supports on a daily basis.

In an interview with Chronicle.lu, Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, explained: "It’s a little bit like a club, made to help people forget their worries just for a few moments. It doesn’t change anything in their lives. We don’t give them a job or a place to live, and we don’t take care of their health, but we try to look after their moral and psychological wellness. It’s just a little extra that we offer. But it’s important, because people need to feel that they are welcome and that they belong to society.”

Stëmm vun der Strooss organised a range of activities throughout the day, including make-up and manicure workshops, hairdressing services, a barbecue, the distribution of ice cream, drinks and other surprises, made possible through the involvement of 25 volunteers from various partner companies.

“It’s something our clients always look forward to,” Alexandra Oxacelay concluded. “We don’t offer activities like these regularly, but for us it’s important to do so. [...] For me, it should be normal, everyone should have access to things that are normal for us. Going to the hairdresser, taking a bit of time to care for ourselves. It’s important to feel good and to be able to function better afterwards.”
