On Friday 30 October 2026, Luxembourg's Neumünster Abbey (neimënster) announced its GEM theatre programme for the 2026/27 season, featuring eight productions ranging from contemporary creations and reinterpretations of literary classics to experimental and participatory performances.

The new season will open on Thursday 12 November 2026 with "White Gold", a production written and directed by Larisa Faber, an associate artist at neimënster. Co-produced by the cultural centre, the surrealist play follows a young white asparagus dreaming of reaching the Michelin-starred kitchens of Luxembourg chef Léa Linster before the harvesting season ends.

Combining theatre, dance and absurd humour, the production explores ambition, perfectionism, work and mortality, while paying tribute to asparagus harvesters whose labour often goes unnoticed. Born in Romania and raised in Luxembourg, Larisa Faber is known for combining humour with social and personal themes.

Another highlight, "Notre procès", will take place on Wednesday 25 November 2026. Created by Bérénice Hamidi and Gaëlle Marti, the participatory production transforms the stage into a courtroom to examine a poem by French poet André Chénier, raising questions about consent, sexual violence and the interpretation of literary classics.

The performance will bring together legal professionals, literary specialists and experts on gender-based and sexual violence. Six audience members, selected by lot and given brief training before the performance, will act as jurors and deliver a verdict. Interested spectators can indicate their willingness to participate when booking.

The GEM 2026/27 theatre programme will feature eight productions, including one in English and one multilingual performance:

  • on Thursday 12, Saturday 14, Monday 16 and Wednesday 18 November 2026: "White Gold", an English-language production written and directed by Larisa Faber, combining theatre, dance and absurd humour to explore ambition, perfectionism and the often-overlooked labour of asparagus harvesters;

  • on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 July 2027: "Barbe-Bleue | Barbablù", a multilingual immersive production by Stéphane Ghislain Roussel combining theatre, opera, visual arts and sound to explore violence against women, domination and collective responsibility. The performances will take place on the forecourt of neimënster.

The remaining six productions will be performed in French.

Most performances will take place at 19:30, while "Barbe-Bleue | Barbablù" will begin at 21:00. Recommended minimum ages are ranging from eight to sixteen.

Standard tickets cost €22 for most productions, with exceptions including "Le Cercle des poètes disparus" at €39 and "Barbe-Bleue | Barbablù" at €28. Reduced tickets cost €9 and Kulturpass tickets €1.50.
