The Théâtre Ouvert Luxembourg (TOL) has announced a new play, “This Is a Scam” directed by Jacques Schiltz, which will be performed on several days from Thursday 19 to Friday 27 March 2026, at its venue in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
Produced by Jill Christophe, Production Manager at Nonsense Asbl, the play, held in English, aims to explore themes of ambition, self-promotion and the blurred line between success and fraud in a competitive professional environment.
The story follows two young women who realise that most successful role models are men. They decide to become CEOs and build their own success.
Anne takes a deceptive path and promotes a medical solution called the “Madison Needle”, which does not work but still attracts investors and drives rapid business growth. In contrast, Solvei follows advice from business and self-help literature to adapt her behaviour and image, gradually building a successful fashion business.
According to the TOL, the play draws inspiration from real-life figures such as Elizabeth Holmes, Anna Delvey, Billy McFarland and Cassie Chadwick, while Solvei's character reflects ideas from books like Lean In, Girlboss and Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office.
The performance will combine multiple formats, including: social media content; TED-style talks; true crime storytelling; stand-up comedy; interpretive performance. The structure will follow stages of a con, inspired by Maria Konnikova’s work.
The production was presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2023, developed further with director Jacques Schiltz and performed in Luxembourg in April 2025 at ArcA Bertrange and Aalt Stadhaus Differdange.
Norwegian actress and writer, Solvei Sundbø, trained at RADA and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has worked across theatre and screen in Scandinavia and the UK and won the Hyacinth Havergal Prize.
President at Nonsense Asbl, and Luxembourgish actor and comedian, Anne Klein, trained at RADA and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has been shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award and appeared in productions including The Red Suitcase, Capitani and Marginal.
The performances will take place on Wednesday 19, Thursday 20, Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March 2026, each starting at 20:00.
