The City of Luxembourg (VdL) has announced that a new edition of the “Second Chance Schluechthaus” second-hand market will take place on Sunday 20 July 2025, from 10:00 to 16:00 at the site of the former abattoir in Luxembourg-Hollerich.

Following the success of its recent clothes swap, the VdL has announced that it is reinventing the event as an open-air flea market offering unique items, vintage pieces, home décor and a wide range of quirky objects. Visitors will be able to stroll among numerous stalls where stallholders will share the stories behind their objects and give them a new lease of life.

The event forms part of the City of Luxembourg’s environmentally responsible approach, which aims to encourage waste reduction and promote a circular economy.

According to the VdL, this year’s season at the Schluechthaus is themed around creativity and energy, offering a wide variety of cultural, sporting and intergenerational activities. The events are seen as part of a broader programme to enhance and revitalise the site ahead of renovation works. The aim is to trial ideas and suggestions gathered through citizen participation regarding the site’s future use.

Admission to the event is free.
