On Tuesday 24 March 2026, Société Générale Private Banking Luxembourg announced its support for the Fondation pour le Climat, contributing to biodiversity restoration and social inclusion in Luxembourg.
Under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, and through an environmental and social initiative led by Co-labor, Société Générale Private Banking Luxembourg is participating in the creation of a sustainable market garden at Grevelsbarrière, aiming to restore a former conventional agricultural area into a space more favourable to biodiversity.
According to the press release, the project will focus on soil restoration, the implementation of ecological and regenerative cultivation methods, as well as the installation of habitats favourable to wildlife and pollinators. The support from the bank contributes more particularly to the preparatory phase of the project, notably to the restoration and preparation of the soil.
Beyond its environmental ambitions, the initiative also focuses on social dimension, including participants in Co-labor’s socio-professional integration programmes that will be involved in the development and maintenance of the site, thus acquiring practical experience in sustainable agriculture. The initiative will therefore enable the integration and development of skills of people far removed from the labour market.
“The Fondation de Luxembourg welcomes the commitment of Société Générale Private Banking Luxembourg, alongside the Fondation pour le Climat under our aegis. This partnership illustrates the role of companies as drivers of change in the climate transition. It is part of the ambition of the Fondation de Luxembourg to make environmental action more accessible, thanks to a simple and effective framework promoting concrete local impact,” said Tonika Hirdman, Chief Executive Officer of the Fondation de Luxembourg.
“As a long-standing player in Luxembourg, it seems essential to us to support concrete projects within the country. Our commitment to the Fondation pour le Climat, led by the Fondation de Luxembourg, fully aligns with the Group’s priorities in terms of biodiversity and ecological transition. It is a project that we share and carry collectively with all our employees,” said Olivier Gérard, Director of Société Générale Private Banking Luxembourg.
“Thanks to the support of the Fondation pour le Climat, we can transform a former agricultural plot into a sustainable market garden, favourable to biodiversity and to adaptation to climate change. This project fully illustrates Co-labor’s approach: linking socio-professional integration, organic agriculture and local food, from production to distribution via our Grénge Kuerf baskets, our markets and our grocery shops in Bertrange and Walferdange,” added Lola Artigao, President of Co-labor.
