The fifth edition of the Luxembourg Guitar Festival (LGF), the first festival dedicated to the classical guitar in Luxembourg, will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May 2026 and from Friday 15 to Monday 18 May at the Luxembourg City Conservatory, the Philharmonie Luxembourg and the cultural centre Bonnevoie.

A rich programme of exceptional artistic quality will feature some of the world’s finest guitarists, including a concert by the renowned Spanish guitarist Ricardo Gallén, as well as an international guitar competition, a national youth competition, masterclasses, a lecture, a guitar exhibition and training for music teachers.

The fifth edition of the National Youth Competition, supported by the Ministry of Education and aimed at young guitarists from Luxembourg born in 2005 or younger, will take place at the Cultural Centre Bonnevoie on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 May.

The semi-final round of the fifth edition of the International Classical Guitar Competition will take place on Friday 15 May, at the Luxembourg City Conservatory, where four candidates will be chosen for the final round on Sunday 17 May at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. Both the semi-final and the final round are open to the public and the entry is free. The competition is one of the most highly endowed, with prizes worth over €8,000 sponsored by the City of Luxembourg, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture, the Conservatory as well as the Luxembourg Guitar Festival.

On Friday 15 May, distinguished Spanish virtuoso Ricardo Gallén will perform at the Philharmonie Luxembourg. The organisers said: “Gallén’s rare combination of virtuosity and musicianship has captivated audiences around the world. His inspiring and innovative interpretations place him among the top musicians, while his revolutionary and influential playing and teaching are the best proof of his quality.”
