On Tuesday 24 February 2026, LuxConnect, Luxembourg’s largest data centre operator and provider of an extensive dark fibre network, marked the laying of the foundation stone of its future administrative building at the construction site within its Bettembourg premises.
The event took place in the presence of Lex Delles, Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Jean-Marie Jans, Mayor of the municipality of Bettembourg, and Michel Asorne, President of the Board of Directors of LuxConnect.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Delles thanked LuxConnect for its long-standing commitment and described the project as more than just the construction of a new administrative building. He emphasised that it reflects the broader development of Luxembourg’s digital ecosystem, including data centres, connectivity and secure cloud infrastructure. Highlighting the strategic importance of the site in Bettembourg, he noted that such investments help strengthen the country’s economic fabric and ensure that digital activities continue to grow locally. “It is about developing an ecosystem that can evolve and remain anchored here,” he said.
Bettembourg Mayor Jean-Marie Jans underlined the importance of resilient IT infrastructure and secure data hosting in Luxembourg. He highlighted that companies can rely on LuxConnect’s facilities to delocalise and duplicate their servers, thereby reducing operational risks and ensuring business continuity. Referring to the broader digital ecosystem, he noted that such infrastructure strengthens partnerships and supports sustainable development. “This is the kind of service we can rely on,” he said, adding that the new administrative building reflects continued investment in long-term growth.
In an interview with Chronicle.lu, Paul Konsbruck, CEO of LuxConnect, described the project as marking a new phase for the company, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. “Now we are entering a new chapter,” he said, noting that the expansion reflects the company’s continued growth in both dark fibre networks and data centre operations. He explained that the development is intended not only to meet LuxConnect’s internal needs, but also to strengthen collaboration with its subsidiaries and external partners from the telecom and ICT sectors. “We want to form an ecosystem where people can exchange, build new ideas and develop innovation projects,” he added.
Referring to the scale of the initiative, he confirmed that the investment amounts to more than €40 million over the next two years. Paul Konsbruck also highlighted the backing of national and local authorities, stating: “The state and the municipality have supported us all along,” including through planning adaptations that enabled the project to move forward.
According to information presented on site, the new administrative office building (NOB) will comprise approximately 5,000 square metres of space across four floors (R+4) and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. Designed to accommodate around 250 workplaces, the building will feature shared areas, meeting rooms, a cafeteria and outdoor terraces. The project places strong emphasis on sustainability, with an energy efficiency class A rating, rainwater harvesting for sanitary use and on-site photovoltaic energy production. LuxConnect also plans a three-level parking facility with 225 spaces, including charging stations, expected to be completed in 2027, while temporary parking infrastructure is due to be finalised in spring 2026. The company has stated that the project aims to achieve a carbon-neutral footprint over its life cycle.
