On Saturday 10 October 2026, Cactus Bascharage celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special event attended by customers, employees and local representatives.

Bascharage Mayor Nadine Braconnier, Cactus Chief Operating Officer (COO) Cédric Gonnet, members of the Cactus team and visitors attended the official ceremony. The mayor and Gonnet delivered speeches, followed by an official group photograph and the cutting of an anniversary cake.

Throughout the day, visitors were offered a range of activities, including children's colouring workshops, face painting, wooden games, an inflatable castle and appearances by Cactus mascot Yuppi. The programme also included a prize wheel, pastry demonstrations and tastings of Bamkuch and mini-huit pastries.

During the official ceremony, Mayor Braconnier congratulated the supermarket on its anniversary and wished the team continued success in the years ahead.

In his speech, Cédric Gonnet reflected on the supermarket's development since its opening in 2001 and highlighted the role of its employees. He noted that Cactus Bascharage currently employs more than 300 people, including 21 who have worked at the store since its opening.

"Following the opening of our latest large supermarket last year, we decided to enter a new phase focused on renovations. We currently have between five and eight stores in the pipeline. We are now working on Esch-Brill, followed by several smaller city stores. Bascharage will also be renovated in the future," Cédric Gonnet told Chronicle.lu.

He also noted that the Bascharage supermarket attracts both local residents and customers from neighbouring France, particularly at weekends and on Sunday mornings. According to Cédric Gonnet, the supermarket ranks among the top five in Luxembourg across all retailers.

Following the speeches, representatives of Cactus and the municipality gathered for the anniversary cake ceremony, surrounded by employees and visitors. The cake, decorated in the shape of the number 25 and topped with fruit, was presented with sparklers before slices were shared with those attending. The celebration also featured a group photograph alongside Cactus mascot Yuppi.
