On Saturday 10 October 2026, JBF Toys and Trains opened their new store at the Scillas Shopping Square in Luxembourg-Howald.
Two years after opening their first store in Luxembourg-Gare, Robert van den Oord and Sanne Boersma; they have now move to larger premises.
In addition, JBF Toys and Trains opened a temporary Pop-Up Store in Luxembourg City (38 Rue Philippe II), which will remain open until January 2027.
On the Saturday morning, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony was held just before the new store was opened to the public, with different areas set up for trains, LEGO building and colouring activities and workshops for different age groups, as well as different toy demonstrations and modelling. The store owners provided drinks and refreshments for both adults and children who attended the opening.
The Sunday was reserved as a Charity Day in collaboration with Ladies’ Circle 4 Luxembourg (LC4), raising funds to support families and victims of domestic violence, via the Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte (FMPO) - Ladies’ Circle forms part of the Round Table Family, an international movement founded on friendship and service. Here in Luxembourg, four circles carry this mission forward. Throughout the Sunday, 10% of all JBF Toys and Trains store sales were donated to charity; there was also a charity bake sale, and drinks and snacks by LC4..
Chronicle.lu got the opportunity to talk with Sanne Boersma who stated: "This new store is much more than just a bigger location for us. We wanted to create a place where people enjoy spending time, discover new things, and share their passion. Whether you're five or seventy-five, there's something special about building, creating, and using your imagination. That's exactly what we want JBF Toys and Trains to be about."
She explained "This is already our third location, and looking back at where we started, it's incredible to see how far we've come. We've put so much time, energy and passion into building this business, and we're extremely proud of this next step. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support and loyalty of our customers."
She confirmed "Of course, you can buy almost anything online these days, but we strongly believe there's still something special about walking into a store, discovering something new, and talking to people who share your enthusiasm. Especially when it comes to toys and hobbies, we believe the experience is just as important as the products themselves."
When asked about the expansion of their business, she stated: "For Robert and me, this business is much more than just a job. It's something we're genuinely passionate about, and it has become a big part of our lives. Seeing our ideas and plans finally come together in this beautiful new store is incredibly rewarding. We're excited to share it with our customers and see what the future brings." She added "We wanted our opening weekend to be a real celebration, not just for us, but for our customers and the wider community. Combining it with our fourth Charity Day on Sunday, together with Ladies Circle 4 Luxembourg, makes it even more meaningful. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this milestone while also giving something back".
Their expanded product range includes toy brands such as LEGO®, Märklin, Fleischmann, Roco, Tamiya, Revell and Pokémon, as well as trading cards, hobby supplies and collectibles.
