On Tuesday 3 November 2026, the non-profit organisation Stëmm vun der Strooss, which supports the social and professional integration of disadvantaged people in Luxembourg, announced that it had recently received a donation of clothing from the Grevenmacher section of Luxembourg's Christian Social People's Party (CSV).
The initiative was led by Liane Felten, alderwoman of the municipality of Grevenmacher, alongside members of the local CSV section. Residents contributed men's and women's clothing through a collection launched during an "Afterwork" event on Friday 16 October 2026, followed by door-to-door collections.
The donations were delivered to the association's premises in Hollerich, where Anny Chapali, head of the Kleederstuff clothing service, coordinated the unloading and sorting process.
"Before we can distribute them free of charge to the many underprivileged people we welcome every day - by appointment in the morning and for emergency cases from noon onwards - all these clothes must be sorted. To do this, I am delighted to be able to rely on my team of ten people employed as part of a professional reintegration program (TUC - Community Benefit Work)," she explained.
The donated clothing will also be distributed to the association's Kleederstuff facilities in Esch-sur-Alzette and Ettelbruck to support beneficiaries across the country.
Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, commented: "We currently employ a total of 250 people across our various workshops located in Esch-sur-Alzette, Sanem, Ettelbruck, and Schoenfels. In the face of ever-increasing demand, we would need many more workshops of this kind because our waiting lists are endless. Every day, we are forced to turn away people who are looking for work."
Liane Felten and members of the Grevenmacher CSV section emphasised that the initiative also aimed to raise awareness of social challenges.
"Through this action, we wanted to involve all the residents of our municipality by raising their awareness of poverty and social exclusion - two phenomena that are becoming increasingly visible in the Grand Duchy," they stated.
Following the clothing collection, the Grevenmacher CSV section and local authorities are planning similar initiatives in the future, noted the non-profit.
