On Sunday 16 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that officers had responded to nearly 70 incidents involving noise disturbances, fights, disputes and public nuisance across Luxembourg overnight.

Between the evening of Saturday 15 August  2026 and the morning of Sunday, police received reports of almost 70 such incidents, including around 40 cases of noise disturbance. According to the police, in most cases the situation had already calmed down by the time officers arrived or could be resolved at the scene.

However, police highlighted an incident in Rollingen in the early hours of Sunday morning. Officers received a report of a heavily intoxicated man causing a disturbance at an establishment on Rue de Luxembourg.

According to initial information, the man had been involved in an altercation with customers, after which he was asked to leave the establishment. The customers remained inside while waiting for the police to arrive.

Officers found the man outside as he was about to drive away and prevented him from doing so. During a subsequent breathalyser test, he reportedly became increasingly agitated and uncooperative and had to be restrained.

As the man did not calm down and was deemed a danger to himself and others, police placed him in custody to sober up following a medical examination.
