On Sunday 1 November 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that it had received reports of more than 100 incidents involving disputes, altercations, disturbances and public nuisance between the evening of Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November.

According to the police, one such incident occurred at around 00:50 on Sunday 1 November in Rue de la Poste in Luxembourg City, where several people had become involved in a confrontation. A police patrol attended the reported location and found an injured man. An ambulance was called; however, the injured man became increasingly uncooperative and refused all first aid offered by the officers. Due to his increasingly confrontational behaviour and his attempts to become physically aggressive towards the officers, he was restrained.

Meanwhile, a large crowd of onlookers had gathered around the scene, and several people had to be kept at a distance by the police officers. Due to the situation, additional police units were requested. At one point, two individuals threw firecrackers in the direction of the police officers. The firecrackers exploded in the immediate vicinity of the officers and the injured man. Nobody was injured, and the two individuals initially fled the scene.

However, following a search based on their descriptions, they were spotted by another police patrol at Place d’Armes. Their attempt to escape by bicycle was prevented, and both individuals were apprehended. A police report was drawn up against them for resisting law enforcement officers.

In the meantime, the injured person, who was still in police custody, had calmed down and was eventually able to receive medical treatment in an ambulance.

In addition, reports were received from across the country concerning individuals setting off bangers, firecrackers or other fireworks, throwing eggs at buildings, pedestrians or vehicles, and carrying out doorbell pranks.

In some cases, the individuals reported were located by the police. This was the case, for example, in Schifflange, where several reports were received and several young people were stopped and checked during the search. Firecrackers were also seized in the immediate vicinity.

In other cases, however, the individuals concerned had already fled by the time the officers arrived. This was the case, for example, shortly before 22:00 in Rue de l’Usine in Belvaux, where unidentified individuals had thrown pumpkins at a house, damaging a window. The search for the perpetrators was unsuccessful, and a police report was drawn up accordingly.
