On Friday 21 March 2025, the official inauguration of the École Nationale de Santé de Luxembourg (Luxembourg National School of Health - ENSA), the Sports Hall of the Speech Therapy Centre, as well as the school’s Student Housing, Villa Flo, took place in Strassen.

Maly Goedert, Director of ENSA, welcomed Luxembourg’s Minister of Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes, and Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, as well as over 100 guests, to the inauguration ceremony which was held in the Florence Nightingale Amphitheatre at the school.

Ms Goedert stated that "it is important to offer young and old alike quality training, focused on the skills they need and corresponding to their aspirations and needs. Let us be enthusiastic and proud of what we do and highlight the meaning and value of our healthcare professions."

Minister Backes thanked all those involved in the project, saying: "In a context where the challenges of the healthcare sector and the resilience of our country are essential, it is crucial to have modern and suitable infrastructure, providing optimal conditions for the training of future professionals. This requires cutting-edge equipment, an environment conducive to student growth, and spaces that foster exchanges between stakeholders in the sector. This project reflects our commitment to investing in the future while ensuring the preservation of the environment and the well-being of all."

Minister Meisch spoke of how the modern facilities, now available to future healthcare professionals, will enable students to develop their skills in a life-like setting.

Between each speech, the attendees were treated to music performances from the school’s nursing band, composed of both current and past pupils.

Following the inauguration, a tour of the campus showcased: a sports hall with climbing wall; students’ relaxation area; simulation rooms for practical teaching and training, incorporating life-sized models of patients in a hospital setting; a simulation room for geriatric patients; the library which included a digital anatomical display (and several comfortable looking beanbags).

The new buildings are on the same site as the existing Centre for Motor Development (Centre pour le Développement Moteur) and Speech Therapy Centre (Centre de Logopédie).

The school accommodates 1,200 students and is situated at the entrance to the site. The sports hall and swimming pool are located close to the Speech Therapy Centre, whereas the accommodation is in a quieter location. The three buildings are connected via a central axis.

ENSA has locations in Strassen, Bascharage and Ettelbruck.

Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Maly Goedert confirmed that the school trains future nurses, pharmacy assistants, caregivers and midwives.
